Gas to Electric Conversions done properly

Victorian homes are electrifying fast — gas prices keep climbing, new gas connections are being phased out for new homes, and modern electric alternatives are simply better: heat pump hot water uses a fraction of the energy of a gas storage unit, induction outclasses flame cooking, and reverse-cycle air conditioning is the cheapest heating available. The catch is that all of it needs electrical capacity, circuits and often a board upgrade. That's the part we plan properly, so your electrification happens in the right order without paying for rework.

Heat pump hot water

Dedicated circuit, correct placement and controls set up for off-peak or solar-soak running. We coordinate with your plumber or can recommend one we work with regularly.

Induction cooking

Induction needs a properly sized circuit — often the trigger for a board assessment in older homes. We run the circuit, and once the gas cooktop is gone your kitchen loses its combustion byproducts too.

Reverse-cycle heating & cooling

Split systems and ducted heat pumps are the workhorses of an all-electric home. We install the circuits and isolation, sized for the units your HVAC installer specs — we work in with HVAC crews constantly.

The whole-home plan

The order matters: board first, then the big loads, then solar to feed them. We'll map your full changeover — even if you stage it over a couple of years — so every step builds toward the finished all-electric home.

How it works

1. Tell us the job

Call, text or use the form. Send photos of the board or the spot you want work done — it speeds up quoting.

2. Fixed quote

Clear pricing before we start. No hourly surprises, no "supply and fit extras" appearing on the invoice.

3. Done and certified

Clean install, site left tidy, Certificate of Electrical Safety issued on completion of every job.

Straight answers

Is going all-electric actually cheaper?

For most households, yes — heat pumps and reverse-cycle units are several times more efficient than gas equivalents, and dropping the gas connection also drops the daily supply charge you pay just for having gas connected. Pair it with solar and the running-cost gap widens further.

Can my existing switchboard handle an all-electric home?

Often not without work — heat pump hot water, induction and reverse-cycle heating add real load. We assess capacity first and tell you exactly what's needed, whether that's a couple of circuits or a board upgrade.

Do I have to do it all at once?

No — most clients stage it: switchboard, then hot water when the old unit dies, then cooktop, then heating. We'll sequence it so nothing gets done twice.

Are there rebates for getting off gas?

Victoria has run various rebates and incentives for heat pumps and efficient electric appliances, and programs change — ask us what's current when you book and we'll point you at anything you're eligible for.
