The licence, and what it means
Mathie Electrical holds Registered Electrical Contractor licence REC 32391. In Victoria only a registered electrical contractor can carry out and certify electrical installation work, and the register is public. You can look the number up yourself. Ask any electrician for theirs; if they hesitate, that tells you something.
Every job we finish is issued a Certificate of Electrical Safety. That's the record that the work was done by someone licensed to do it, tested, and compliant with AS/NZS 3000. It matters for your insurance, and it matters when you sell the house.
What I work on
Switchboard and consumer mains upgrades, EV charger installation including solar-integrated setups, gas-to-electric conversions, rental electrical safety checks under the Victorian residential tenancies rules, lighting and power, fault finding, and builder and multi-unit work.
The guides on this site are written and checked by me, not outsourced. Where they state a rule or a date — the 13 October 2026 rental safety check deadline, for instance — it's checked against the current regulations rather than repeated from another website.
How the business runs
Mathie Electrical is two people: me and Sam. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it. Quotes are written, itemised and fixed before the work starts, and if something unexpected turns up we stop and talk about it before it costs you anything.

Two people, no call centre
When you ring, you get Mitch or Sam. When we quote, the same two turn up to do it. It's why the price doesn't move once you've said yes, and why you can text a photo of the job and get a straight answer.
