EV charging in Frankston

Frankston's a mix of older weatherboards and newer estates, and that split shows up in every EV charger quote we do here. Older Karingal and Frankston North homes usually need the switchboard sorted before a charger can go in legally; newer builds around Skye and Sandhurst are often straightforward. We're based in Frankston, so there's no cross-town travel loaded into your price.

Older boards are the usual hold-up

A lot of Frankston homes still run ceramic-fuse boards with no safety switches. An EV charger can't legally go on one, so we assess the board first and quote both together — you get one price, one visit, no surprise phase two.

What the quote covers

Board assessment, dedicated circuit, protection, cable run, charger mounting, commissioning and a Certificate of Electrical Safety. One fixed price, agreed before we start.

A recent install, start to finish

Board checked, dedicated cable run, charger mounted, tested and certified — this is what the job actually looks like.

Chargers we install

We're brand-agnostic — we fit what suits your car, your solar and your budget.

myenergi Zappi

The solar owner's pick. Diverts surplus solar into the car automatically, so you charge on your own power before drawing from the grid.

Tesla Wall Connector

Clean look, fast, and the obvious choice if you're driving a Tesla. Handles other makes fine too with the right cable.

Evnex E2 Flex

Smart load management and app connectivity, 7.4kW. Popular on newer installs where the board is tight.

Sigenergy / GoodWe / Fox ESS

Matched to your inverter brand if you already have solar from one of them — keeps everything in one app.

SolarEdge

Integrates with SolarEdge solar systems for one combined monitoring picture.

Anker SOLIX & others

We install what suits you, not what's on our shelf. Tell us the car and the setup and we'll recommend honestly.

Straight answers

How much does EV charger installation cost in Frankston?

Standard single-phase installs start from $750 for the electrical work. The final price depends on your switchboard, the cable run and whether any board work is needed. Send a photo of your switchboard and where you park and we'll come back with a fixed quote, usually the same day.

Which EV charger should I get?

If you have solar, a Zappi or a charger matched to your inverter brand gets you the most value. Tesla drivers usually want the Wall Connector. Otherwise it comes down to budget and whether you want app control and load management. We install them all and recommend based on your car and setup, not on what we stock.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade first?

Sometimes. An EV charger is one of the largest continuous loads in a home, and older boards without safety switches or spare capacity can't take one legally. We assess this before quoting and include it in the fixed price if needed — never as a surprise extra.

Single phase or three phase?

Single phase (about 7kW) adds roughly 40km of range per hour, which covers overnight charging for most drivers comfortably. Three phase (up to 22kW) is around three times faster and worth it for high-kilometre drivers or homes that already have three-phase supply.

Can I just use a normal powerpoint?

You can trickle charge from a standard outlet, but it's slow (roughly 10–15km of range per hour) and running near-maximum load for hours on an ordinary circuit isn't ideal long term. A dedicated wall charger is faster, safer and adds value to the home.

How long does an install take in Frankston?

Most standard installs are done in half a day. If a switchboard upgrade is needed as well, allow a full day. We'll confirm timing when we quote so you can plan around it.

Are there rebates available?

Victorian rebates and incentives for chargers and electrification change regularly. Ask us what's current when you book and we'll factor anything you're eligible for into your quote.

Do you install at apartments and townhouses?

Yes, where the owners corporation approves and the supply allows. We handle metering, load management and the cable run to your allocated space. More involved than a house install, but very doable.
