Faults we get called to most

If any of these are happening at your place in Mornington Peninsula, stop using the circuit and call us. Most of them we’ve seen a hundred times and can talk you through making it safe on the phone.

Power out to the whole house

If neighbours still have power, the fault is yours — usually a tripped main switch, a failed RCD or a fault on the incoming supply. We isolate it fast and get you back on.

Breaker or safety switch keeps tripping

Something on that circuit is faulting to earth — often a wet outdoor point, a failing appliance or damaged cable. Repeated resetting is not a fix and not safe.

Burning smell, buzzing or hot powerpoints

Stop using the circuit and call immediately. Heat and smell at a socket or board means arcing, and arcing is how electrical fires start.

Sparks, exposed wires or storm damage

Do not touch anything and keep people clear. If a cable is down outside, stay well back and call us — we’ll advise on the spot whether the distributor needs to attend first.

Water damage to switchboard or outlets

Water and electricity in the same box is an emergency. Isolate at the main switch if it’s safe to reach, then call.

Hot water or oven dead before a busy day

Not dangerous, but urgent when the house runs on it. Most single-circuit failures are same-day fixes.

What happens when you call

No hold music, no dispatcher reading a script.

1. Call us on 0413 962 819

You get a real electrician, not a call centre. We’ll ask what’s happening and tell you straight away if there’s anything to do or avoid before we arrive.

2. Make it safe

We’ll talk you through isolating the faulty circuit if that’s needed — sometimes that alone makes the house safe while we’re on the way.

3. Diagnose and fix

We turn up with a stocked van, find the fault properly rather than guessing, and give you the price before we repair. Certificate of Electrical Safety issued on completion.

“Extremely professional, prompt and easy to communicate with — I’ve used them twice now and couldn’t be happier.”

Straight answers

Do you do emergency electrical work in Mornington Peninsula?

Yes. We’re a Frankston-based licensed electrical contractor (REC 32391) and we take urgent calls across Mornington Peninsula. Call 0413 962 819 and you’ll speak to an electrician who can tell you what to do right now.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Anything involving burning smells, smoke, sparks, exposed or damaged cabling, water in the switchboard, shocks from appliances or taps, or a total loss of power when neighbours still have theirs. If in doubt, isolate the circuit and call — it costs nothing to ask.

What should I do before the electrician arrives?

Turn off the main switch if it’s safe to reach, keep people and pets away from the area, don’t touch damaged cable or wet fittings, and don’t keep resetting a breaker that won’t stay on. If there’s fire or a fallen powerline, call 000 first.

How much does an emergency call-out cost?

A standard call-out is $220–$350 inc GST, which covers travel and initial time on site diagnosing the fault. Any repair is priced and approved before we do it — no surprises on the invoice.

Are you available after hours and weekends?

Our standard hours are Mon–Fri 7am–5pm with Saturdays by arrangement. For genuine emergencies outside those hours, call and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can attend or whether you need a 24/7 service — we won’t leave you guessing.

My power is out — is it my problem or the network's?

Quick check: if your neighbours are also out, it’s a network outage and your distributor (United Energy on the Peninsula) is the one to call. If only your place is out, the fault is on your side and that’s us.

Do you charge more for urgent work?

Our call-out covers urgency during business hours — we don’t inflate hourly rates because you’re in trouble. After-hours attendance is quoted before we commit so you always know the cost.
